Well, many people have asked such questions on our site comment box, asking if there is a probability of getting sick just by drinking bathroom water. In this post, I will try to answer the questions without missing anything.

Like I always say, water is a substance one cannot do without. It is something we consume every day of our lives. There is no day that breaks without individual drinking water. We do that all the time especially when eating. We also drink water to quench our thirst. We all know water and its uses.

However, The question now is, can you get sick from drinking bathroom water? is there anything wrong with drinking water from your bathroom? Why is it that water from the bathroom tap tastes different from water from other tap water in the house?

Will I Get Sick If I Drink Bathroom Water?

The answer to this question can be yes and can be no as well.  I will go ahead and explain to you why I answered yes and no. But before that, it is important you don’t forget what the bathroom is all about. It is a place where you either take your bath or do other personal private stuff.

According to Wikipedia, the free Encyclopedia, a bathroom may also be called a washroom or restroom and it is a place where you can find both shower and a sink. Some modern house includes a toilet inside the bathroom. That is to say that a bathroom is a place where you go to defecate. Therefore, drinking water from such a place may not be good for your body system.

Also, the bathroom is where you go for your personal hygiene. This is where you go when you feel like to remove some unwanted products inside your body and clean yourself up. Therefore, it is not advisable to drink water from such a place irrespective of how clean the water is.

Reason Why You May Not Get Sick Drinking Water from Bathroom

Like I said earlier, you may get sick from drinking bathroom tap water. But the reason why I said you may not get sick is if the water is clean. If the water inside your bathroom is very clean and drinkable, then you won’t get sick from drinking it.

The question now is, how do you know if your bathroom water is clean? How certain are you that there is nothing wrong somewhere with the water? There are some countries that are said to have the best tap water in the whole world. Countries like Sweden, Switzerland, New Zealand, UK, and Norway, etc.

However, people from these countries may drink water from their bathroom tap and may not get sick because the water supplied to both their hotels and homes are clean drinkable water.

What I’m trying to explain here is that, if the water coming from your bathroom tap is clean and drinkable, then you won’t get sick from drinking it. But that does not give you the reason to form the habit of drinking water from your bathroom sink. It is not hygienic at all considering the type of activities that goes on inside the bathroom. Ensure you get bottled water or treat your water before drinking it. It’s very important.

Drinking water from the bathroom can cause several health issues if care is not taken. How can you not get sick from drinking polluted bathroom water? Do you know that not all water is drinkable? There are some water you do not drink, there are others which you drink too.

However, the reason why you do not drink these other ones is simply because they are not meant to be consumed. You can use it to cook, wash, and even brush your teeth but when it comes to consumption, it is a no. So tell me why you won’t get sick from drinking such water?

Someone has also asked; can tap water in a new location make me sick? That depends but when it comes to toilet and bathroom, you should not drink water from there. Just brush your teeth, bath, wash, and leave the place. Simple and short.

If you are in Africa or in any part of the world where most of their water is stored in a tank. You are not expected for whatever reason to drink water from your bathroom, restroom, washroom, toilet, or whatever you call it. This is because there is a high risk of you getting sick if you continue to drink water from such a place.

The reason for that assertion is not far fetched, the tank where the water is stored is not washed at a regular time. At a point, the tank may not be clean enough to drink from it. Therefore doing so may make you sick. Sometimes, it takes 3 or more years for the owner of a house or the tenants to wash these tanks. In that case, you are doing yourself a disservice if you continue to drink from your bathroom tap.
